These topics aren't linked to digital privacy per se, but it's a good starting point: Try Linux! There's more to this world than Apple, Microsoft, Google, Adobe and the such. There is a healthy open-source-alternative for almost everything. Or simply an alternative from a different company. Often a better one, even.
